This 2-day workshop offers an opportunity to experiment with sensors to gather hydrological data, build prototype monitoring systems, and test them outdoors under real field conditions.

Whether you’re new to open hardware or already prototyping your own ideas, we encourage you to bring designs, questions and use-cases to explore with the group.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Help kickstart a new, supportive community of scientists and practitioners working with open hardware in hydrology and beyond
  • Share and understand needs, barriers, and opportunities shaping this space
  • Generate project ideas that could progress through the FDRI Early Adopters Programme

Accommodation, subsistence and travel costs will be funded by FDRI.

About FDRI and the Early Adopters Programme

Offering state-of-the-art hydrological monitoring and digital services, FDRI wants to support innovation in UK research on floods and droughts. As part of this strategy, we will launch an Early Adopters Programme. The programme will allow researchers, practitioners and innovators to gain early access to FDRI-enabled emerging tools and services, test new approaches, and help shape the design of FDRI infrastructure through real-world use, feedback, and collaboration. Ideas and prototypes developed during this workshop may be taken forward as supported Early Adopter activities.
